To God, the most essential of all truths is the truth about himself. Who he is and his sovereignty are the center of all that is right. He proclaims in the Scripture above, “I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is no one like me.”
To whom can they compare him? No one else in the universe! YHWH is the original monotheist. He is not confused! Neither is he ambiguous. While the people of the nations quibble over how many gods there are or how many persons equal one God, he is certain: He alone is God.
These are people bound together by relationship with their God. The nation is ancient Israel. Their God is YHWH — the LORD.

The one who is seated on the throne of the heavens leads David on the hills of Judea. The God of the Bible is sovereign over the universe. Yet, his eyes are upon his people. He cares for them.
Isaiah sees a vision of YHWH. Seated on the throne of supreme majesty, he is the most extraordinary being in the universe. The prophet is overwhelmed by his splendor and glory.
YHWH's impassable excellence is acclaimed in the songs his people sing. The Book of Psalms is a collection of 150 of their songs. Again and again they celebrate the virtues of their God.
